Whats your favourite gardening magazine? By k9copsgrl.

I do not agree with myself one if I need advice I go to google or I have not found a magazine that seems to cater for the “regular folk” and their gardens, all seem to be much like mansions in gardens and such.

But if I want to brows a magazine, while I am at home or store or Lowes Walmart, have periodically (mainly storage house) near the garden, segments, and I get ideas from them. Go to your local home store or garden center, what are eyebrows mags and see if it fits your needs, sorta like “test drive” the mags! :)

  • You should dig up the tuber in the fall before freezing to keep your dahlia for next year.

After the first couple of light frosts dahlia will start to die back. I dig it up and let the leaves dry out and die. I had several dahlias that I maintained for many years in Michigan.

They kept the old pots filled with peat down to the basement, and it worked great.

Some say to slightly moisten the peat and Spritz that every now and prevent the tubers from drying out. I never did this, and everything was fine.

You can start your dahlia back up in late winter indoors if you have a good sunny window. Just pot in good soil pots in a container large enough (they need plenty of space to the ground).

Then be ready with an edge, where the risk of frost has passed.
  • Does any know what the violet plants in this garden are?

It seems to me like purple heart. Look on Ebay for the correct name and had some for sale. Invited Purple Setcreasea heart of vines pallida. Image will not show up close and I’m guessing you live in warmer areas. I have my own as a houseplant that I live in Iowa. I suggest you pot em up & sell em on Ebay! Not really know how to get rid of them other than to keep pulling em up.

I subscribe to Better Homes and Gardens a few years ago and quickly disliked because each article was trying to market a new product, often at exorbitant times. An want to try organic gardening, try http://organicgardens.com for some great idees.Mou also like Sunset Magazine, adjusted for the Southwest (AZ and NM), although there are also great recipes and travel in http://sunset magazine.comMolis start a garden, you will develop your own style and perhaps find better or more other magazines garden tastes sas.Mporei there are still some garden magazines at your local library.

Turtles and birds, or birds & Blooms. I can never remember how it is suppose to be even if you register it. Lot of interesting and educational articles worth reading.

    Backyard Living!
    -http://www.Backyardlivingmagazine.com/the magazine has ads.

It has lots of great competitions with a small (wind blows) and large (garden tractors) awards.

It also has many stories (funny and useful), written by anagnostes.Backyard living for the entire magazine is devoted to landscaping, planting and gardening, and Better Homes and Gardens and has an internal decoration and cooking, and some species self-improvement.

It is not as strong as gardener-Living.Eimai Backyard landscape/rplante/rgardener by hobby, and Backyard Living is never “fly” the magazine! Another poster suggested Birds and Blooms. This is also an excellent “no advertisement” magazine; I think that is published by the same folks who make Backyard Living and Taste of Home.
